Mifos Community
The Mifos community is a supportive collaboration of microfinance practitioners, IT professionals, and software developers who exchange tools, ideas, and resources to assist with the enhancement and deployment of Mifos. In this way, Mifos knowledge as well as the software is “open sourced.”
Each stakeholder in the Mifos Community has an important role to play:
- MFIs are the users of the Mifos software and are consequently the primary beneficiaries of Mifos. On these pages MFIs can learn why Mifos is important for them and find an IT Specialist who can assist them with the deployment of Mifos. As users of the software, MFIs will contribute to the community by providing local, in-field feedback based on their needs and experiences with the product.
- Locally-based Mifos deployment Specialists play a critical role in the Mifos community. MFIs depend on these Specialists to provide technical support and consultation during the implementation of Mifos and for ongoing use. On these pages, interested IT Specialists can discover if this opportunity is appropriate for them and locate interested MFIs with whom they can work. As experts in the technology and its deployment, Specialists feed the local, in-field knowledge they gain back to the community, helping to produce an increasingly robust software product.
- The worldwide community of Mifos developers, both paid and unpaid, contribute to the project’s open source development as well as provide technical support to the community to adapt, implement, and localize Mifos.
Only with the support and collaboration of all the stakeholders in the microfinance community, can Mifos fulfill its potential and have a truly revolutionary impact.
